Newest Album Release: Snake Doctor

Bio

Dickie Lee Erwin, originating from the windswept territories of southeast New Mexico and west Texas, stands as a beacon in the alternative country music scene. Growing up on farms and ranches, he began his musical odyssey with the piano at age 6. By 12, he had transitioned to the guitar, and by 19, the banjo, under the mentorship of James Henley. This award-winning singer, lyricist, guitarist, and banjo player, alongside his band, has been a cornerstone of the Austin, Texas music community since the early 1980s.

Dickie's 11 original albums, which include his recent EP "Dragonfly" and the upcoming "Snake Doctor" set for 2024, seamlessly blend classic country and Americana. He's known for adding unique flairs, from jazz improvisations to samba rhythms and even psychedelic jams. His lyrics tell relatable tales, channeling the essence of the Texas high plains and narrating enchanting stories from America's expansive midnight highways.

A well-traveled artist, Dickie has extensively toured the U.S. Midwest, East Coast, and Europe. He has delighted audiences in countries like Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, and more. Fans can expect yet another European journey with his 4-piece band in 2024. Beyond his undeniable musical talent, Dickie also showcases his creativity as an oil and watercolor painter, drawing from the beautiful landscapes of the Southwest.

“Dickie Lee Erwin is a singing cowboy. He doesn't tend to cattle anymore, but he sings and writes songs with the wisdom, heart and gentle beauty of that tradition. We need cowboy singers right now. He happens to be a really great one. We're lucky to have him."

Alejandro Escovedo

"Dickie Lee Erwin is a singer, a fine songwriter, a precious soul, a master of the desert scene. I believe in him."

Mike Hall, Austin Chronicle

“Snake Doctor, his 11th album, veers off to give his rootsy tracks a new pop shimmer and layered vibe courtesy of co-producer Rob Halverson, a fan of random and found sounds.”

Album Art

“There’s always a melody floating around in my head.  I’ll work out the melody and then start listening for lyrics, which are usually not too far away.”
